Katie is an applied sociolinguist with research interests in language policy and planning, language ideology, and the impacts of both on language teachers' professional identity and development. Having researched in this area in national and international contexts, her current projects involve examining impacts of EFL volunteer flows on language planning and implementation in rural Nicaragua. Her secondary research interest is in language and (dis)ability.
