Professional Bio
Benedict Rowlett is Associate Professor and English Department Chair in the Academy of Language and Culture at Hong Kong Baptist University. He is a sociolinguist and critical discourse analyst with research interests in gender and sexuality, narrative inquiry, and queer (applied) linguistics. His work focuses on sexualities, citizenship, and social action in Asian contexts, including research on regional Pride events. His recent publications include articles in Sexualities, Discourse, Context, and Media, Social Semiotics, and Critical Discourse Studies, the Cambridge Element “Pride in Asia” and the Routledge edited volume “Sex Work and Language”.
