Tianfang (Sally) Wang earned her BA in English (with a focus on cross-cultural communication) from Beijing International Studies University in 2014. She, then, came to the department of Applied Linguistics at Penn State and earned her MA degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. After graduation, she spent the last year teaching ESL015. She also taught in many other contexts, such as conversational skills in an American literacy council, test preparation for Chinese EFL students, and Business English for employees from international corporations. This semester, Tianfang has started her first year in the department of Applied Linguistics as a PhD student. She is eager to explore the possibilities of integrating Cognitive Linguistics and Sociocultural Theory in ESL classrooms and is also enthusiastic about Conversation Analysis in the context of ESL classrooms.
