Xixin Qiu is a doctoral candidate in Applied Linguistics. Prior to his arrival at Penn State, he earned a B.A. and M.A. from Beihang University in China where a great institutional emphasis was placed on perfecting science and engineering education. Since then, he developed a keen interest in exploring novel approaches to improve engineering students’ ability to write professionally. Currently, his research concerns the application of corpus-based lexico-grammatical analysis to engineering writing pedagogy. He has taught both freshman and graduate-level academic writing to international students at Penn State and serves on the Student Editorial Board of English For Specific Purposes (2022-2023).
